Persef2 6th Entry: Circles of my multicultural self

Guide Questions:
1. Share a story about a time you were especially proud to identify yourself with one of the descriptors you used above.
2. Share a story about a time it was especially painful to be identified with one of your identifiers or descriptors.
3. Name a stereotype with one of the groups which you identify with one of the groups with which you identify that is not consistent with who you are.

I am very proud to be identified as a sincere and loving person. Through the values I have I get many loyal and trustworthy friends. Having this values makes my friend trust me more and be loyal to be. They enjoy having my company and they don't doubt what I say. Being loving person has its advantages, when I give love to someone they give that love back to me so its a win-win situation. Besides from that I am also proud to be a positive thinker because I obtain my determination on that.

Well , sometimes it is really hard for me to be identified as a member of the third sex. I accept it and all but what bothers me is the discrimination going around. Some people don't discriminate gays but there are still many people who discriminate us so MUCH. But now if I see people who discriminate gays I just don't mind them because the more I think about it the more stress I become.

Com sci major- all com sci major are nerds and don't have a social life.

I am a Com sci major but I am not a geek and I do have a social life, a very big one actually.

Persef2 5th Entry: What is my role in the community?

1. What is the most disturbing social problem that needs immediate attention? In what way is this evident in your local community?

The most disturbing social problem for me is POVERTY. I think everyone can see Poverty. It is obviously very evident around us. You can see children on the sidewalks begging for money and food. You can see children that cannot study. You can see families living under bridges.

2. In relation to your academic training and future profession, what knowledge, skills, and values do you have or will acquire soon that will help you respond effectively to this concern?

Well , in my academic training I really don't know how can I help resolve this problem but studies aside I can help marginalized peopl with my generosity and willingness to serve others. I have been attending different community service programs from Persons With Disabilities Day to Gawad Kalinga. I think if I continue helping others we can resolve poverty little by little.

3. As a La Sallian student, how can you make a difference as early as now? Specify clearly doable steps you intend to actualize to alleviate this problem.

Well, as a lasallian student the only thing I can contribute to this problem is by supporting fund raising projects.

Persef2 4th Entry: Pledge of Commitment on Marriage

I commit myself
To live my whole life
In Loyalty to my partner
While Guiding my children to the right path in life
Supporting them through thick and thin
And o help them to live while following God's will.

So help me God.

Persef2 3rdEntry: Significant Others

INTERPERSONAL NEEDS

Well, I think currently I don't actually have a very significant other. but I use to have one. It was my "Ex Special someone" :). Our relationship with each other was beyond anything I can think of. Our type of relationship was very personal. Anything could be said in our discussion. We always say what we feel about each other and we don't keep anything from each other. The funny thing about it is we seem to be opposites of another. We compliment each other's flaws. Like him being always late and me having good time management and influencing him to be time-conscious as well. I think our relationship was very special and I would take any chance to bring it back.

COST-REWARD THEORY

I think I have a cost-reward type of relationship with my friends. The cost that I pay is the loyalty and the time I give to them and I guess the reward is also the time and loyalty that they give back to me.

BALANCE THEORY

This theory I have with all my relationship. I am the type of person that gives the amount of things to a person that the person gives me too. If the person does not put a lot into me I will not give him a lot either. It it my very instinct to return every favor that a person have given me.

Persef2 2nd Entry: Ethical Decisions

1. Think of a recent event where you have a variety of options but you do not know which among of those you have to choose. How did you come up with a sound and ethical decision?

I experience a situation were it was really hard in making a decision because any option that I choose would change my life and life of others. I really got worried and so stressed about it. Well, what I did was take to consideration everything that will happen with each decision. I tried to see which one will be most beneficial to me and to others.

2. How does your emotional maturity affect your decisions in life?

I think my emotional maturity made me choose better decisions in my life because I now know at least what is right or wrong. I already experienced a variety of outcome to the decisions I make so I know which one will affect others badly. I could also say that my emotional maturity has made me think about others when making decisions.

3. Describe a time you had difficulty in making a sound and ethical decision. What made it difficult? What did you do about it? Is there something you could have done that would have made it easier?

At first I had trouble focusing on my studies because there were so many distractions. So I thinked about it and I then started to manage my time. And what do you know, I am using my time wisely now and I had learned how to balance things out.

4. What can you learn from these experiences?

Easy decisions are not the best ones. Sometimes the decision which are hard to make are what we really are suppose to choose.

5. How would you then apply this in your workplace, family or school?

Well, I use the good things that I learned from my experiences and I lessen the bad things that I have done before.

Persef2 1st Entry: Stress!

Stressors. Stressors.

1. Anger - Well, it is really hard for me to control my anger. Once I get angry it is just really really explosive but after like 5 mins I am not angry anymore but during the time that I am angry it's just really stressful. It's the fact that I really don't know where to take out my anger on. I tend to be pissed off a lot by small things and I get really frustrated about it that I get to the point that I have headaches. But ever since that I had been aware of my anger problem I always tried to remedy it. What I did was research on the type of problem of problem I am encountering and the things that I can do to avoid it. When I found some solutions, I tried it right away when I got angry. Then Viola! I was able to overcome my anger little by little. I think if I continue what I am doing right now, sooner or later I will be able to solve my problem.

2. Love -love has always been my main stressor. I fall for somebody very easily. As a confident person, I always expect them to give back the love that I am giving to them. But when I start to realize that I'm not getting the love back, I get really stressed out. Well, what I can do about this is be carefree in my life. And not think about things seriously and I will always keep in my that there is someone for me out there.

3. Studies - I can't really say that this is one of the stressors I am having right now but I have experienced having my studies as one of my stressors. Well, that time what really bothered me about my studies was the amount of projects that was given to us. It was like 6 or 7 projects and we only have about a month to finish it. We all know what was going to be the result of that - Cramming. Cramming is really stressful because you just keep worrying about the time, if you will be able to finish the project, or what if you can't finish it, what will happen, blah blah so many things that worries you. What I did to overcome this problem was to set schedules, to plan ahead and do things immediately the moment they were announced.

12th Entry: What I learned in life, I learned in PERSEF....

(1) For me the 2 most meaningful modules for me is about the "Love Relationships" and "Ettiquette".
"Love Relationships" module excited me because I am always interested to any topic related to Love. It has encouraged me to think in new ways because I have learned and shared many things in this modules. My blockmates were able to hear what I have to say and I was able to listen to them also. This experience has helped me think of new ways in encountering certain problems about love and it was very helpful that my blockmates shared many things. It also taught me what my mistakes are and what I should do about them.

"Ettiquette" module was meaningful for me because it has taught me many things on how to deal with certain situations. It also helped me identify my mistakes and flaws in my manners.

(2) Our discussion in persef1 has improved me alot. Reflecting and learning different things in our discussions. I have begun to grow in a way that I am learning to get over bad things of the past and I am focusing more on the present and future. I learned that thinking or worrying about bad things in the past won't do you any good so its better to think about what you want to change in your future.

(3) In dealing with people and large communities, I do not have any problem even from the past but this past few months I can see that I am still improving in those aspects. I have improved maybe because of the new friends I met here in Lasalle because they did not judge me on what is outside me. I have improved in confronting with new people.

(4) Persef1 has helped me alot. I have learned to appreciate the good things that were given to me and I have learned that we should not worry about the bad things we have but instead we should look on what good things we have.

11th Entry: Awww...Last Persef1 Meeting huhu...

- Last meeting for persef1 and also the last normal school day before the finals...

- First we had charades but the one sitted will be the one to act out and the one standing will be the one to guess the word. It was so fun :)). We were divided into 2 groups. The words were discussed on our past persef meetings.

- After that we were grouped again according to color...and we answered a paper regarding on what we should stop and what we should start doing...

MY ACTION PLAN

As a result of the learning and the insights I gained on ETHICAL LEADERSHIP, SITUATIONAL LEADERSHIP, and MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

I plan to do the following:

PERSONAL:
I will stop....
- criticizing others
- worrying on how I look

I will start.....
- eating like a normal person :))
- to appreciate whats inside me and not outside

MY SCHOOL:
I will stop....
- being in attentive

I will start.....
- to focus more on my studies

- The most that I will be focusing more on doing is eating like a normal person because I have noticed that I am getting thiner and thiner. It is becoming hard for me to eat. I have trouble eating certain amounts of food.

- I have come up with a solution for my problem. Starting now I will start to add little amounts to what I eat each day that passes so that after a few months I will be able to eat huge amounts of food.

10th Entry: Leadership...

- Our topic last meeting was about Leadership.

- For me every leader should be a SERVANT LEADER.
- A leader is not the person who orders people on what they should do. A leader should be able to serve his peers with excellence. A leader should be able to help others improve. A leader should accept any mistake he makes. Lastly a leader should not let his team down and the members should not let their leader down also :)).

As a lasallian leader:

I will start...
- I will strive to help my fellow students in their difficulties.
- I will be more responsible.
- I will put all my heart in what I am suppose to do.
- I will be more concerned in what is happening around me and in our community.

I will stop....
- Cramming Cramming Cramming :)) and Being careless. I will stop cramming because it would lead me to failure. About being careless I will stop it to because it tends to be the frequent problem I am encoutering these past few days.

- Achieving higher goals

Shoes....
- Being indepent or standing on our own feet

-Unity

Green color of shoes....
- Cleanliness and Purity

Male and Female symbols...

8th Entry: Citizenship..

- For our meeting last July 20 we talked about the topic of citizenship.

- We first had an group activity that was about the characteristics of a good lasallian. We each gave our own description of a good lasallian for us. A lot of the groups had similar characteristics given.

- When I look at the characteristics I think that the characteristics given can't be in only one lasallian because that would be impossible. I think that the characteristics on the board must be given to different people. Different people should have different characteristics so that we could fill up each others weaknesses. Also Having all these values in one person would make haing a community pointless.

For me Lasallians should have the following characteristics:
- Must be Open-minded
- Must have Love for God and our country
- Enthusiastic
- Responsible
- Must be able to adjust to different situations

7th Entry: My Mission Statement!

6th Entry: Career, what to choose??

- Career was our topic in our meeting.

- We did many survey about our career. We had a survey that helped us on what particular career maybe compatible to us. We also had a survey where we grouped and met people who have the same career possibilities as ourselves.

Before:
What course do you want to take up in college??
- Com Sci!

Right now:
Studying where??
- DLSU-Manila

What course??
- CCS-CS

Future:
What specialization do you plan to take in your course??
- Software Tech!

Do you want a job related to your course??
- Of course :))

Do you want to work abroad??
- I prefer to work here.

- I also realized that I was very sure of what i want my career to be from the start. My goals hasn't quite changed from my childhood days.

- Our persef meetings for career really helped most of us. The surveys where really helpful. It helped us identify what job might be appropriate to us.
